The San Juan National Forest will take public comments until March 6 on a Draft Environmental Assessment to salvage dead and dying spruce trees on 800 acres in Mineral County on Wolf Creek Pass.
The Fall Creek Spruce Salvage project includes reforestation on an additional 190 acres, erosion control and fisheries improvement, and construction of two corrals to improve rangeland and efficiency of the deferred rotation grazing system used on the East Fork San Juan allotment.
The draft EA describing the proposed action, along with maps, is at http://www.fs.usda.gov/goto/sanjuan/projects.
