Wolverine spikers named All-League

Bayfield seniors Tymbree Florian and Jannika Pope were recently named to the 3A Intermountain League's All-IML Volleyball Team, officially released following State-qualifying Alamosa's exit from the Denver Coliseum Saturday morning, Nov. 10.

Counted upon to do some of everything, from setting to serving to spiking to stuffing, Florian was an easy First Team All-League choice and was honored along with AHS junior Jordan Mobbley and senior Sylvie Caton, Centauri senior Isabel Prieto, Montezuma-Cortez senior Aryelle Wright and Pagosa Springs junior Teagan Stretton.

Mobbley, a 5'6" setter, was named IML Player-of-the-Year while Mean Moose Coach Annie Rice received Coach-of-the-Year after Alamosa went 10-0 in league and ultimately 26-2 overall following a five-game win over Loveland Resurrection Christian on the State Championships' first day. Alamosa then had a four-game loss to Colorado Springs Christian on Day 2 and a three-game loss to Parker Lutheran beginning Day 3.

Lutheran, which ended Bayfield's 2017 campaign at regionals, finished 27-2 overall after winning the state championship 25-16, 25-20, 14-25, 25-11 over CSCS (22-5).

Regularly relied upon to provide the big swing offensively plus defense, Pope was named Second Team All-IML to close out her prep career, with the Wolverines having finished a fourth-place 5-5 in league and 7-16 overall. Joining her were AHS senior Amy Lopez and juniors Emily DePriest and Taylor Motz, CHS senior Kaitlynn Martin and PSHS junior Taylor Lewis.

Honorable Mention All-Intermountain for 2018 went to M-CHS freshman Avery Wright and sophomores Leigha Comisky and Amber Wood, Monte Vista seniors Harley Kincannon and Alyssa Rawinski, and Centauri senior Madison Sowards and junior McKenna Bagwell.
