Just before New Year's Eve, the revised On The Mat wrestling rankings were released, and in the Class 3A team rankings, the Intermountain League was more than well-represented with Alamosa billed at No. 1, Pagosa Springs at No. 5 and Centauri at No. 10.

Resuming their schedule in 2018, Bayfield will likely see most if not all of them tomorrow.

And that's following Friday night's 6 p.m. IML dual at Montezuma-Cortez, which comes on the heels of Thursday's interstate dual at Aztec, N.M.

"We've got a pretty full week ahead of us!" laughed BHS head coach Roy Westbrook Tuesday morning. "You know, it'll be a test of how good the boys are. And where they're at right now...it'll kind of show them."

"We kind of went through a spell there, where we had kids getting sick, you know?" he continued. "Couple coming down with some kind of stomach bug or cold, but as of right now it seems like everybody's healthy and none out on injuries or illness."

And with senior Garrett Beebe leading the Wolverines' lower-weight grapplers and junior Daniel Westbrook the uppers, the boss knows his crew will at least have a fighting chance to succeed at all three stops,ending with the Jan. 6 Rocky Mountain Invitational in Pagosa Springs.

"We'll pretty much have our main roster," said Westbrook, noting senior Lane Grimwood, however, may be unavailable. "I think we've got three or four boys that should definitely walk away with some hardware at the Pagosa tournament, so it'll be really good."

"They're generally all usually there, most of our league teams," he added. "So that's a good tournament for us to really get a good look at where we're going to be at, come regional time. It kind of helps set the boys up for seedings when you get into regionals and whatnot."

Action inside PSHS Gymnasium is set to begin at 9 a.m.

SHOWING RESPECT: Westbrook also noted that there would be some sort of extra recognition given by Bayfield to Aztec High School in the wake of the deadly shootings which occurred there December 7. Mum was the word, however, on exactly what would take place.

"Given the connection we have with (former BHS head coach/current AHS assistant Herb) Stinson, and just the close connections between Bayfield and Aztec, it's only natural we would cook something up for them."
