Not one. Not two. Not three.
It took four overtimes to settle the boys basketball game between the Wolverines and the Pirates on Friday at Pagosa Springs.
Bayfield High School prevailed 86-76 in quadruple overtime against the defending Class 3A state champions.
Preston Hardy led BHS (7-4, 2-0 Intermountain League) with 37 points and made 10-of-10 free throws in the fourth extra period.
The teams were tied at 61 at the end of regulation after Pagosa Springs (4-8, 0-2 IML) erased a six-point deficit in the final quarter.
BHS led 30-28 at the half.
The Wolverines now have won four games in a row, which is one more win than they had all of last season.
BHS will continue IML play against Centauri at 7 p.m. Friday in La Jara.
