Woman dies when vehicle rolls into waterway on Colorado 145

Traffic delayed southeast of Norwood

A 50-year-old Telluride woman was pronounced dead at the scene of a Wednesday morning crash in San Miguel County, according to Colorado State Patrol Trooper Josh Lewis.

The single-vehicle crash occurred about 8 a.m. on Colorado Highway 145, about 9 miles southeast of the town of Norwood, Lewis said.

The San Miguel Sheriff’s Office reported the crash on Twitter just after 9 a.m. Wednesday, and stated that the Norwood Fire Department also responded.

Gina Marie Pace was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a Facebook post by the Sheriff’s Office.

“Our thoughts are with her family,” the post said.

The vehicle rolled into a waterway, Lewis said.

The highway was closed for several hours after the crash and reopened about 10:25 a.m., he said.

Traffic was moving in the area, using alternating lanes, by 11 a.m., according to San Miguel County emergency management coordinator Jennifer Dinsmore.

No other details were immediately available, and the accident remains under investigation, Lewis said.
