A passenger on a motorcycle lost her foot Saturday after the driver and someone in a dually truck crashed near Nature’s Oasis in south Durango, police said.

A man driving a Dodge pickup northbound in the 400 block of Camino del Rio around 2:15 p.m. somehow collided with a man on a Harley-Davidson with a woman passenger, said Durango Police Sgt. Will Sweetwood.

He said the victims were transported to Mercy Regional Medical Center with serious injuries – both were wearing helmets. The truck driver was uninjured.

The ages, names and places where the truck driver and victims are from were not immediately available. Police have not issued a citation or made any arrests as of Saturday afternoon, Sweetwood said.

Law enforcement is investigating how the vehicles crashed, he said. The motorcycle was in the through lane, the truck was in the left turn lane – police noted minor damage to the rear passenger side of the truck, Sweetwood said.

The woman passenger’s foot was amputated in the crash – Sweetwood said he didn’t know which of her legs was injured.
