I’m delighted to hear that plans are afoot to make better use of the Durango Mall and its gigantic, empty parking lot. It’s a great location for more housing, near the bike path and stores.
I’m wondering, though, about the wisdom of pairing Whole Foods (often referred to as Whole Paycheck) with affordable housing. The people who will live there may not be able to afford to shop there. If we are to bring in another grocery, I’d rather see Sprouts, which tends to have more affordable prices. And what about something fun for all ages like a bowling alley?
