Because of recent inclement weather, the Colorado Department of Transportation has postponed repairs to the road surface of Colorado Highway 172 until next week. Maintenance crews will be on site just south of Ignacio on Tuesday with heavy equipment at about mile point 8.
“The wet weather prevented our crew from carrying out the work plan,” said Dusty Ledford, CDOT maintenance supervisor. “The wet road surface and water puddles can prevent the asphalt patch mixture from properly adhering to the surface. It was best to wait for more favorable weather conditions.”
Drivers will encounter brief delays of 15 to 20 minutes and one-lane, alternating traffic on Highway 172, about one mile south of Ignacio. Drivers should watch for traffic control flaggers, maintenance workers and heavy equipment on and along the roadway. CDOT urges travelers to obey signs and any speed reductions through the work zone. The maintenance operations are expected to be completed by the end of the day on Tuesday.
