A workshop examining new rules on collecting and filing taxes imposed by the Colorado Department of Revenue will be presented from 8 to 9 a.m. July 30 in the Conference Room of the Durango Chamber of Commerce.
The new rules require businesses in Colorado that sell products and services to customers in other taxing districts in the state to collect and file taxes for those outside taxing jurisdictions in the state. Many small businesses are concerned the cost of collecting and filling sales taxes will balloon because there are hundreds of taxing jurisdictions in Colorado.
Erin Neer of MuniRevs will lead the workshop on the new rules, which went into effect June 1.
The workshop will review the new rules and inform business owners and their employees about how to collect and file the new taxes.
The event is free. To register, visit the Durango Chamber of Commerce website and click on the Events tab then go to the proper workshop to register.
