WRC board: committed to community, clients

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Women’s Resource Center, we would like to respond to recent inquiries from The Durango Herald regarding the departures of valued staff members and volunteers.

The WRC staff shared a uniquely personal and meaningful relationship with our former Executive Director Tammy Tyner, and, understandably, this tragic loss has brought deep hurt, sadness and even anger. We are profoundly grateful for the care, commitment and heart they have brought to this organization and to the clients we serve. As the staff moves forward in their professional journeys, having accepted positions elsewhere, we honor their contributions and wish them the very best.

In the wake of these departures, the board is working to ensure the continuity of our mission. We remain steadfast in our responsibility to the women and families of our community. As we move forward, we are committed to preserving essential services, supporting the stability of WRC and thoughtfully restructuring the organization so it can continue to serve as a vital resource for many years to come.

During this transition and rebuilding period, the WRC office will be open with limited hours; these details will be updated regularly on our website wrcdurango.org. We also encourage anyone in need of services to email programs@wrcdurango.org, and a member of our team will respond within 48 hours.

We ask for the community’s continued support and grace as we work through this rebuilding process. Our focus remains, as always, on providing a safe and supportive environment for those who need us most.
