‘Yes’ to Patterson; ‘no’ to ColoradoCare

Kayla Patterson understands that the job of county commissioner is to serve the community, not her own agenda or the agenda of the government. Patterson, being a young adult raised in La Plata County, understands the need to keep the county a true Colorado county, meeting the needs of the farming community that made this county.

Patterson understands the importance of industries like oil and gas and the coal mine that not only provide hundreds of jobs but royalties to help support our county. Patterson has held many meetings around the community to find out what we think of the airport plans.

Please take the time to attend a meet-and-greet with Patterson or contact her to discuss any issues you have with the current state of our county. I’m sure you will find her very knowledgeable and ready to fight for you.

In November, voters will also decide on Amendment 69. Here’s what ColoradoCare would do. It will increase the state income tax to 14.63 percent, the highest in the country. Small business would have a 6.67 percent tax on total payroll. Employees would have a 3.33 percent tax on payroll. All other non-payroll income will be taxed at 10 percent. This is in addition to the 4.63 percent tax we already pay.

ColoradoCare is not health insurance. It can assess unlimited income taxes and will be exempt from normal government control. All personal health care data will be deposited in a database for publicly available research. These are only a few of the issues ColoradoCare will cause. Vote “no” on Amendment 69.
