‘Yes’ vote on Issue 3B vital for children

Whether you have children in the Bayfield School District or not, the school bond issue before us in November is vital for educating children, improving Bayfield’s economy and increasing property values. And it is very cost effective.

The state selected Bayfield as its highest priority for school construction and awarded a BEST grant of $8.5 million that will cover 24 percent of the cost of constructing a new elementary school for grades 3-5 and renovating the existing grade school for K-2 students.

The grant is contingent on us taxpayers passing a bond issue for $28.7 million to fund 76 percent of the cost.

The tax will be at the rate of $6 per month per $100,000 of property value, or $200 per year for a $280,000 home. That’s certainly not pennies but it is well worth it for providing necessary buildings for educating Bayfield’s most important resource, our kids.

The Bayfield School District bond issue is at the very end of the ballot under School Districts as Ballot Issue 3B.

B is for Bayfield! Please vote for it.
