Young visitors to Manna will have a place of their own after the Durango Daybreak Rotary Club donated and installed a play structure on Saturday.
About 20 volunteers helped build the play set, and volunteers plan to return with mulch later this week.
The Durango Daybreak Rotary Club asked Executive Director of Manna Kathy Tonnessen how the group could help the nonprofit, and Tonnessen suggested building an area for children to play, said Annette Angst.
The nonprofit is serving more children, especially on Wednesdays during the summer when it gives away produce from its garden, said Jason Cloudt, volunteer coordinator and garden manager.
The play set was funded by the Daybreak Rotary Club, Alpine Lumber, Native Roots, Home Depot, Ted’s Rentals and Durango Nursery.
The project has been in the works for about a year, Angst said.
