Your big truck makes a terrible noise

Yes, size matters when it comes to pickup trucks but I’m talking about the size of the noise they make. Sadly, many pickup trucks in this town are now outfitted with exhaust systems that are fashionably noisy by design.

We have known for decades that noise pollution is bad for our health. It’s also unpleasant and only continues to get worse as the population grows.

Clearly, it’s not attractive in a tourist town.

Male gorillas pound their chests to make a big noise in order to draw attention to themselves.

This primitive male behavior is now on display by immature human males (mature, confident men don’t need to show off), who feel the need to drive big pickup trucks that make a big noise.

Psychologists call this display compensatory behavior. When they step on the gas, they think they’re showing off their manliness – but they’re really only advertising their smallness.

We can only hope that as these drivers figure this out, they will help make Durango a better place – without all that manly noise.
