Melissa Youssef and I served together on the Animas High School Board of Directors during its formative early years. Those very demanding years required us, as a board, to develop school policies, move campuses, address the needs of a unique and evolving student demographic and to smoothly transition during leadership and staff turnovers.
Resources were scarce and money tight, requiring us to fundraise and secure various forms of financing in order for the school to operate. Youssef’s strong financial background was invaluable in helping Animas High stay on track and within budget.
With students’ educations at risk, Youssef was determined to help position the school for long-term success. Her energy and conscientiousness were evident every step of the way during her years of service on the board.
I can attest to Youssef’s commitment to the causes she cares about. I believe she would be a tremendous asset to Durango City Council.
