Regardless of political persuasion, most of us can agree that the issues facing our community are often complex. As busy citizens, investigating and learning the nuances of these issues can be difficult.
Over the course of this past year, I found Melissa Youssef’s blog a fantastic resource to research Durango-centric topics. Covering history, background, perspective and relevant interviews, she provided complete and in-depth summaries of issues that impact our community.
As an avid reader, I recognize in Youssef’s writing a leader who is thorough, thoughtful and open-minded. As a community member, I appreciate her willingness to spend time and energy not only investigating these topics, but then also presenting them impartially and even-handedly.
I appreciate that Youssef has not used her platform as a method to convince, but rather as a medium to inform. Naturally, she has opinions. I believe it is the mark of true leadership when those opinions are backed by the research, dedication and commitment to understanding she has demonstrated through her blog.
I hope that she will continue to write once elected to Durango City Council. She most definitely has my vote! Vote for Melissa Youssef for Durango City Council.
