The Durango Youth Football League’s third and sixth grade teams put it all out on the field this weekend in their semifinal contests of the Four Corners Youth league. Unfortunately, a win wasn't in the cards.

The third grader competed against Farmington Wolfpack in the semis, but came up short 6-0. With the loss, the third grade team finishes the 2021 season 9-1. Head coach Rustin Bartel and his staff did an amazing job teaching this team the fundamentals of the game and to also be scholars, teammates and community members, according to a league representative.

The sixth grade team, meanwhile, took on the Farmington Bulldogs in the semis but lost 13-6. The team finishes its 2021 season 10-1. In four years playing in the YAFL, the team went 37-2. Head coach Noah Lopez attributed the team’s success to the dedication of the players and their love for tackling.
