It was a banner weekend of racing for Fort Lewis College’s cycling team at Purgatory Resort.
In the first weekend of USA Cycling collegiate racing in Durango in seven years, the Skyhawks ripped around the mountain with a slew of winning results.
Durango’s own Ellen Campbell won the A women’s short-track and cross-country races. Nash Dory claimed the A men’s short-track win, while Cooper Wiens claimed the A men’s win in cross-country. Sam Brown also won the B men’s cross-country for the Skyhawks.
Results for the downhill and dual slalom races were not immediately available.
FLC will aim for a 24th cycling national championship this October in Missoula, Montana. FLC is the defending mountain bike national champ. Next year, the Skyhawks hope to host nationals at Purgatory.
