The city of Durango is currently surveying the community regarding the reauthorization of the existing half-cent sales tax originally authorized for the construction, operation and maintenance of the Durango Community Recreation Center and development of parts of the Animas River Trail, according to a Durango Business Improvement District news release.

City officials are considering putting reauthorization of the tax on the April 2015 ballot. The tax will sunset in 2019.
