Unequal Pay. What is it? It’s when a woman gets paid less than a man, not because she’s not as capable, hard working or productive as a man but just because she is a woman.
The law prohibits sex-based wage discrimination between men and women in the same establishment who perform jobs that require substantially equal skill, effort and responsibility under similar working conditions.
It’s kind of sad we actually have to have a law for that, but in our nation of competitive business, obvious things need to be said and even turned into a law. Too often, folks believe it is okay to do something immoral, unsavory and just plain wrong to people just because they can. Beyond that, there are many that would still do things wrong because what they want to do is not specifically against the law. The worst, of course, are those who do it even though there is a law against it.
They’re called scofflaws and criminals. Don’t let them get away with it.
Do you know some good person, whether man or woman, who is working in a place that discriminates between men and women? There’s a good chance that if they are discriminatory in that regard that they will be discriminatory in other regards.
A lot is said about the glass ceiling. It’s hard for women to break through the glass ceiling they say. Of course it’s hard for them, don’t you think, what with the floor pulled out from under them?
