Nikki Fry pumped in three goals in 18 minutes, and the Adams State Grizzlies had no chance of catching up to the Skyhawks.
The Fort Lewis College women’s lacrosse team received 15 goals from nine different players, led by Fry’s hat trick, in a 15-2 home win against Adams State on Friday at Ray Dennison Memorial Field.
Fry scored the team’s first two goals, and Taylor Cabrera added another before the Grizzlies got on the scoreboard with a Hannah King tally.
FLC (5-5, 4-2 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) then went on a 7-0 run before halftime to take a 10-1 advantage into the break.
It was the third consecutive win for the Skyhawks, who are now 4-2 at home this season.
Delaney Benson tallied two goals and four assists in the match. Cabrera added two goals and two assists. Fry also had one assist.
Brooke Galle added two goals for FLC to add to her team lead which now stands at 17 goals.
Rebecca Miller also had two goals in the FLC win. Sammy Delli, Shelby Madden, Alyssa Montoya and Ryann Pierce each had one goal for the Skyhawks.
Alyssa Spencer started the game in goal for FLC. She made three saves and allowed one goal to take the win. Daris Wienk played the second half for the Skyhawks and allowed one goal and didn’t have to make a save.
Alyse Mims did her best to limit the damage to Adams State (1-9, 0-6 RMAC). She made 12 saves.
FLC has four games left before the conference tournament and is good position to make another trip to play in the tournament, as six teams will advance. FLC is in fifth place in the league standings. Westminster is only a half game back but Rockhurst is sixth a full game back, and the Skyhawks own a tiebreaker against Rockhurst.
