100 years ago: Trains from Ouray arrived in Silverton to drop off urgent food necessities.

75 years ago: Basketball in the San Juan Basin league “moved into its final week of play” for a tournament that would decide whether Silverton or Dolores would be named champion.

50 years ago: A Bayfield woman collided with a parked car on Main Street in Bayfield, which caused minor damage to the two station wagons involved.

25 years ago: Noble Hall at Fort Lewis College was closed down during the day because of a bomb threat that was called in from the location. Police checked the area and found nothing. Classes resumed during the late afternoon.
