Letters: Come join our climate strike

Our planet is literally on fire. Every time that I check the news, I see Australia burning, the EPA limiting science, species going extinct, and people dying as a result of the climate crisis that is sweeping our globe.

In the face of this existential threat, we must not allow ourselves to become paralyzed. We already know that no one is coming to save us – now is the time to organize and save ourselves.

While there is no silver bullet to this crisis we face, there are many actions at all levels of government to overcome this obstacle we have made for ourselves.

We must show those in power that we are not willing to settle for empty promises, polite words and indefinite goals. We need climate action now.

This is why I strike.

Join me in the Global Climate Strike on Nov. 29, in solidarity with hundreds of thousands of youth, organized labor, faith groups and indigenous and frontline communities. We will be standing on Main Avenue and 11th Street from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Now is the time to act; my generation and many after me depend on it.
