100 years ago: “It is expected that a total of $98,000 will be spent on the construction of Durango-Silverton Highway in 1916, and the chances are fair that it may be completed before the end of the year.”

75 years ago: “Mrs. J.D. Roquemore of Farmington is in Durango with her 5-year-old son, Billy Roger, who underwent a minor operation at the Ochsner hospital.”

50 years ago: “Durango DeMolays will name their sweetheart at the annual DeMolay Sweetheart Ball Saturday, the final event in a weeklong series marking DeMolay which begins today.”

25 years ago: “Three Durango teenagers face the juvenile equivalent of second-degree assault and charges of menacing with a deadly weapon and reckless endangerment in connection with a Feb. 23 drive-by shooting on Borrego Drive that injured a 10-year-old girl.”
