Prediabetes information class to be held
Mercy Regional Medical Center will host an informational class for people diagnosed with prediabetes from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday in Suite 140 of Mercy’s medical office building.
People diagnosed with prediabetes are at a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Effectively managing prediabetes can help prevent the disease. Nurse Sheena Carswell and dietitian Marge Morris will lead the class. Attendees will learn how to manage prediabetes and help prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes.

Farmington hospital participates in flu drill
San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington participated in the 2014 Hospital Preparedness Program Healthcare Coalition Region I Functional Exercise, sponsored by the New Mexico Department of Health Bureau of Health Emergency Management.
The medical center assembled its incident command center, including orchestrating responses from several hospital departments, to respond to a flu-pandemic drill.

Resolving seasonal allergies discussed
Caleb Gates, licensed acupuncturist, will discuss “Resolving Seasonal Allergies, Sinusitis and Allergic Asthma,” using Advanced Allergy Therapeutics, noninvasive treatments to resolve allergy symptoms, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Durango Public Library in Room 1, 1900 East Third Ave.
