Her high school cross country career may be over, but the awards haven’t stopped for Eva-Lou Edwards.
The Bayfield High School senior was named All-Intermountain League by virtue of being one the top five league finishers at the state meet.
Edwards capped an undefeated season with her second consecutive CHSAA Class 3A Girls Cross Country State Championship and was joined on the all-league team by teammate Bridget Goddard.
For the second consecutive year, Edwards won state by a large margin, too. She won this year’s 5-kilometer race in 18 minutes, 41.6 seconds, nearly a minute-and-a-half over her closest competitor.
Goddard placed 30th at state, which ranked fifth among IML finishers.
Luke Webb made the boys All-IML team after finishing 16th at state.
The other four members of the team were from Alamosa.
Alamosa’s Larry Zaragosa was named the IML Boys Coach of the Year, while Scott Anderson from Pagosa Springs was named Girls Coach of the Year.
Alamosa’s boys team finished third at state, while the Pagosa Springs’ girls team finished seventh, both of which were tops among IML teams.
