100 years ago: A project to build a standard gauge railroad into Durango, proposed by Mr. M.B. Hereley of Gallup, New Mexico, received interest from La Plata County and New Mexico’s San Juan County.
75 years ago: In Bayfield news, Mr. Fred Groves took over the milk route from Walter Carmack, who was busy moving into his new home.
50 years ago: Firefighters responded to a call of a pile of trash that was engulfed in flame next to a house at 476 East Second Ave. They kept the house from catching fire.
