Liver Down the River playing at Animas CityDurango’s Liver Down the River will be serving up some psychafunkadeligrass Friday night at the Animas City Theatre, 128 E. College Drive, as it kicks off its “Life You Love” album release tour.
The band is Patrick Storen on mandolin; Emily Aguirre-Winter on fiddle, viola and vocals; Dylan Ruckel on guitar and vocals; Tyler Rice on banjo, keyboards and vocals; Derek Abt on bass and vocals and Carter Colia on drums and washboard. Formed in 2012, they specialize in mixing psychadelic bluegrass and funk in their music, while also using their life stories and adventures as inspiration.
Opening for Liver Down the River will be special guest The Outskirts, also from Durango.
The show starts at 9, and doors open at 8:30.

Spend an afternoon with Stillwater musiciansWeekend afternoons in the summer are for live music, and this weekend is no exception.
The Stillwater All Stars will kick off their summer tour with funk, jazz and Latin music from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at Rotary Park in Durango.
The All Stars are made up of advanced students of Stillwater Music who play alongside faculty members.
After the All Stars, Animas Jazz will be playing chamber jazz; Batucada de Durango bringing the rhythms of Brazilian samba; Seven Sharp 11 offering big band jazz and funk; then it’s the a cappella vocals of the DurangaTones; and Soul What?!?! will cap off the afternoon with some rocking soul.
The performances are free and open to the public.
