We need a proper sculpture over here

This is a sore subject that I hate to revisit, but it concerns a replacement for the disastrous rock sculpture which stood at the intersection of routes 550 and 160.

Isn’t it time that we consider a sculpture that reflects the indigenous history of the Four Corners area?

The early Pueblo Anasazi Indians inhabited this area for thousands of years before European trappers and miners arrived. Their existence not only includes the famous cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde but also literally thousands of campsites surrounding the Four Corners area.

Hypothetically, if I were the benevolent dictator of this community, I would contact local artists to submit examples of sculptures of Anasazi Indians to be voted on by the general public. We would finally have something that reflects the roots of the local history, and something we could be proud of.
