Please justify Facebook use for comments

With all of the revelations regarding the Facebook data collection and the questionable use of that data by third parties, I’d like to see a response from the Herald justifying the use of Facebook in order for readers to respond to the online edition.

I find it interesting that when Obama harvested Facebook data in the 2008 and 2012 elections, he was a genius. When Trump used the same data, it was a possible criminal act.

Editor’s note: We switched to the Facebook commenting plug-in about four years ago because of the proliferation of fake accounts people created to comment anonymously. We know the same now happens with Facebook. We may switch again if we find a better solution.
