Police were searching Friday for a suspect who fired a single gunshot through a motel room door at the Spanish Trails Inn & Suites in Durango.
Two people were inside the room at the time of the shooting, said Sgt. Jeremiah Lee, with the Durango Police Department.
“Fortunately, nobody was injured,” he said. “But there was an altercation that took place, and one single shot was fired through the door.”
The incident occurred about 3:45 a.m. Friday. Those involved were acquaintances and involved in an earlier disturbance, Lee said.
No arrests had been made as of 4 p.m.
“People involved have been identified, and the case is still under investigation,” he said.
He declined to identify suspects.
Possible charges could include felony menacing, felony assault and attempted murder, he said.
