Wow! The Herald made some incredibly amazing connections in its “
The Herald says that the city’s decision to prohibit sandwich board signs downtown is equivalent to the decision made by those who ordered the bombing of Vietnam. It also says the city did this to keep homeless people away.
A previous ordinance, supported by downtown businesses, which prohibits people from sitting and lying on the sidewalk does only that. If people want to stand somewhere downtown all day, that’s their right.
Businesses can easily use private spaces to hang signs – windows, doors, walls. I’m sure businesses will find creative ways to advertise the daily special.
I actively support downtown businesses and I support the city’s move to remove the signs.
