In response to Wade Buchanan’s opinion piece (Herald, Feb. 23), I would like to say his rose-colored glasses need cleaning. If he really thinks reliable people want to give up their jobs and feel stuck, perhaps it is the economy and lack of any job making them feel mired in the present situation. Now, they can give up their jobs, go on Medicaid, have no income, no taxes going into the economy and their job is gone because of attrition and employers going to part-time employment to try and save their businesses. One questions whether this is “improving their quality of life.” At whose expense? The few taxpayers left to foot the bill are becoming more and more outraged by the lack of fiscal discipline, self-discipline and being duped by the present administration’s giveaway programs. Yes, everyone may have health insurance (again a farce) – but thanks to the working people and older generation who have been able to save a few pennies, for they are paying the bills.
