I’ve lived in La Plata County for 36 years and seen a tremendous amount of growth and change. I’ve experienced county commissioner boards that have positively affected our citizens and resources, as well as boards that have had negative effects.
Our current board of county commissioners works well together, has a range of knowledge and balance, and has the ability to push and challenge one another in a healthy and productive way. Gwen Lachelt is an integral part of that board.
La Plata County citizens, especially our young community members, benefit greatly from the knowledge, understanding, courage, and commitment Lachelt brings to her work. Lachelt has brought her vast experience to the board and has stood up for what she believes.
Throughout her life, Lachelt has devoted herself to protecting the health of citizens, keeping state and federal agencies and industry accountable. She has promoted growth and development that are responsive to and respectful of current needs while positioning for a prosperous future. These are issues Lachelt has worked on for years and has continued to work on as a commissioner.
These are values she has held for years and has not just come up with during this election. These are the values on which she ran and was elected four years ago. They have not changed.
I will cast my vote for continued good county government, continued clear thinking, continued solid values that keep the good of the people as a top priority. I will cast my vote to positively impact the future for our citizens and the amazing natural resources that surround and sustain us.
