100 years ago: Brothers Forrest and Vernon Sanders arrived in Durango from “the state university” to visit family.
75 years ago: Reverend Fred I. Ingley of Denver gave a commencement speech to Durango High School graduates, and urged students who valued democracy “to work toward making our system of government even more perfect as an example for other nations to follow.”
50 years ago: The Diamond Circle Theatre finished recruiting actors and opened for its sixth season with “Heart of Maryland.”
25 years ago: A resident found the door to his house open and his television set shot out in the 7700 block of County Road 250.
