Support Gail Schwartz for the U.S. House

Former state Sen. Gail Schwartz has my vote to unseat incumbent Scott Tipton in the race for the 3rd Congressional District seat in the U.S. House. Among other things, she has won my vote by promising to fight against partisan gridlock in Congress. As we are all aware, gridlock has meant inaction, the effects of which trickle down to each of us. Schwartz is proud that 95 percent of her bills during service in the state Senate were bipartisan. She knows from long experience that solutions to our problems are often found in the middle where she focuses on behalf of her constituents on the Western Slope.

Among her solid stances on sensible legislative action on variety of fronts, Schwartz is a strong advocate for protection of our treasured and vulnerable public lands to avoid being privatized and sold. She is a proven leader for quality schools as evidenced by her bipartisan leadership on the “BEST” bill – Building Excellent Schools Today – building and improving 381 schools for children in rural Colorado, resulting in nearly 20,000 jobs.

These along with all issues of life depend on planet health. Schwartz’s urgent position on clean energy production is in full step with Colorado’s state climate plan, which sets a target for having 30 percent of energy generation come from renewable sources by 2020.

That means she supports solar, wind, geothermal and, even at a national level, upcoming innovative ocean wave energy generation.

Carrying the stance of “working across the aisle” to the federal level is exactly what we need for the broken Congress. We have the opportunity to elect an independent thinker and leader, ferocious in her tireless work for rural Western Slope Colorado.

Please join me in voting for Gail Schwartz for our House seat in Washington.
