The perfect resume for city councilor includes many qualities, educational accomplishments and experience, but one extremely important factor across the slate is each candidate’s experience with big, complex budgets that govern challenging economic situations. We need someone who’s successfully worked with communities to conceptualize and implement big projects, made hard decisions about meeting budgets and wisely utilized personnel.
It’s important for a candidate to possess the ability to listen, analyze and then formulate – and communicate – a long-term strategic vision, coupled with the experience to set measurable goals along the path to completion.
Given that change is a constant, our city councilors also need to be flexible and adapt as conditions may require. We are a small community in need of someone who is also both compassionate and practical – who can discern what can and cannot be accomplished, for instance, with our homeless population. We need someone who is absolutely committed to government transparency and accountability and who truly listens to us, the citizens.
Barbara Noseworthy has 30 years of experience with these types of issues. Her business experience has proven that she has the tools that Durango needs. She’ll bring integrity and a business-like mindset to the council. She’s also committed to engaging with all of us about our concerns, through open, friendly and non-judgmental dialogue.
Please, join me in support of Barbara Noseworthy for City Council – and vote in the next couple weeks!
