Theater Ensemble Arts to perform
Theater Ensemble Arts will present “Song of Extinction” by E.M. Lewis at 7:30 p.m. April 17, 18, 24, and 25 and 2:30 p.m. April 26 at the Totah Theater, 315 W. Main in Farmington.
This is a story about the science of life and loss and the relationships between fathers and sons. Max, a musically gifted high school student, is falling off the edge of the world – and his biology teacher is the only one who has noticed.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. Half of the proceeds from ticket sales April 26 will benefit the Cathy Lincoln Memorial Cancer Fund. Wines of the San Juan will host a wine tasting for the performances.

Photographer to show work in Cortez
Local photographer Barbara Grist is currently showing her “FLUIDITY” series through May 31 at The Farm Bistro, 34 W. Main St. in Cortez.
Her photographic interpretations of water and light are infused onto aluminum to keep the reflective quality.
She is showing two series, the “Blue Series” created at Lake Powell and the “Gold Series” created at Todos Santos, Baja Sur, Mexico.

Youth symphony concludes season
The San Juan Symphony Youth Orchestras, under the artistic direction of Kurt Chrisman, will present their final concert of the 2014-15 season at 7 p.m. April 20 at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College in Durango.
The Junior Orchestra (elementary school) is under the direction of Bill LaShell. They will perform “Shadow Dance” by Richard Meyer, Bach’s Brandenberg Concerto No. 4 (First Movement), Handel’s “Entrance to the Queen of Sheba” and “Out of the Winter” by Larry Clark.
The Youth Philharmonic (middle school) is under the direction of Lech Usinowicz. They will perform “Heart of Fire” by Lauren Bernofsky, “Forest Incantations” by Alan Lee Silva and Bach’s Harpsichord Concerto No. 5 in F Minor.
Selections on the high school and college students’ program directed by Kurt Chrisman include Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings, Copland’s “Hoe-Down from Rodeo” and “Finlandia” by Jean Sibelius.
All three groups will come together to play one piece, Richard Meyer’s “Miniature Symphony.”

‘Eurydice’ to be performed at Strater
“Eurydice,” a play by Sarah Ruhl and directed by Erin O’Connor, will be performed at 7:30 p.m. May 7, 8, 9, 15, 16 and 17 at the Henry Strater Theatre, 699 Main Ave.
The cost is $15 for general admission and $10 for students and seniors older than 65.
