After about 25 years as a massage therapist, Nina Heron decided to turn start producing bath, body and spa products on her own. The result was Bhakti Moon Botanicals.

Heron dabbled in creating bath teas and salts, facial serums, aromatherapy products, essential oils and the like for about 10 years before she turned it into a profession, she said.

“When COVID came along, I decided to retire from massage therapy and go into this full-time,” she said.

Heron said the products she makes are all-natural and organic.

“We’re local, and we hand-make everything that we sell,” she said. “We infuse all of our products with organic botanicals that we grow or sustainably source.”

Heron said she has a laboratory at home where I makes everything. In addition to the Durango Farmers Market, her products can be found on Bhakti Moon’s website. She also makes products for Durango Hot Springs, she said.

“That’s kind of where I’m going with this business – to supply spas and wellness centers and yoga studios,” she said.

“Bhakti,” a term found in Hinduism and other Eastern religions means “devotional love,” she said, so the name of her business is devotional love of the moon.

He specialty, she said, is creating “products to make your everyday experience a little more special.”
