Centura Health-Mercy Regional Medical Center recently welcomed board-certified radiation oncologist Dr. Douglas Kelly to the Durango Cancer Center, 1 Mercado St., Suite 100.
Kelly specializes in radiation therapy and brachytherapy. He is fellowship-trained in interstitial and intracavitary brachytherapy.
Kelly earned both his undergraduate and Doctor of Medicine degrees from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He completed his medical internship at Ottawa General Hospital and Ottawa Civic Hospital in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Kelly completed his residency in radiation oncology at Ottawa Regional Cancer Center also in Ottawa.
Before joining Mercy, Kelly worked at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for 18 years. He also spent some time as the interim medical director of radiation oncology at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa.
He is an active member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology and the Radiosurgery Society. Throughout his medical career, Kelly has authored and contributed to various medical abstracts, articles and presentations. He also holds a patent on a method to optimally plan and treat multiple brain tumors with stereotactic radiosurgery.
