The Durango Arts Center presents “24hr Theatre: The First Weekend Fling” from Friday to Sunday. Local actors and directors will be taking eight plays from script to stage in 24 hours.

Writers will gather at the theater Friday to turn simple prompts into 10-minute scripts. Then, directors and actors will arrive early Saturday morning, rehearse all day and perform at 8 p.m.

There will be a matinee performance at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Adaptive Sports Association will kick off the winter season with volunteer training.

ASA is a nonprofit sports and recreation outfitter for people with disabilities. Volunteer training is free. Volunteers are needed daily to teach ski and snowboard lessons. No experience is necessary, but volunteers must be at least intermediate skiers or snowboarders. Volunteers also earn discounted skiing at Purgatory Resort and college credit through arranged internships.

Returning volunteer orientation is from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday. New volunteer orientation is from 11 a.m. to noon. Orientations will be held at ASA headquarters, 463 Turner Drive, No. 105. Participants are asked to wear a mask.
