Bayfield High School Business and Marketing Program hosted its annual Invention Convention contest. Competitors were asked to invent a new product design or improve on an existing product. More than 50 students competed.
Three students were recognized as winners. Among the top three was Sydney Rey, who invented “Circle of Life,” a ring that reports biometric data on heart rate and blood pressure; and Brady Leonard, who invented “Ice Away,” a windshield wiper with a heating element to melt ice from wipers.
The overall winner of the competition was Lance Mazur, who invented “Sole Swap,” which are shoes with adjustable soles to adapt to the user’s activity. The shoes can be turned into cleats for outdoor sports and flats for indoors.
