One consideration missing in The Durango Herald not endorsing County Treasurer Allison Aichele is her community service. Our knowledge of this comes from working with Allison on the volunteer Durango Adult Education Center Board of Directors and the Durango School District 9-R Financial Advisory Committee.
In both cases, she has continually lent her accounting expertise and knowledge of how income flows to educational entities for the benefit of students of all ages in our region. And in the case of the Adult Education Center, she has fund-raised and thanked donors.
This community giveback along with the good work she has done mentioned in The Herald is why we endorse Allison Aichele for county treasurer.
