Workshop to explore depression treatment
Ruby Jo Walker will present a workshop called “Working Skillfully with Depression Through the Lens of the Autonomic Nervous System” from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 2 at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.
This workshop will focus on the most current information about the neurobiology of depression and how to work more effectively with it.
Participants will come away with new perspectives, practical skills and an understanding of working with depressive disorders using psycho-biological principles of the autonomic nervous system.
Light snacks will be provided. Participants will receive 3.5 continuing eduction units. The cost is $85 before Friday and $95 after. Advance registration is required.

You can learn how to handle food safely
ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification training will be held Oct. 14-15 in the Florida Room of the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.
A training will take place from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 14. A question period and an exam will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 15.
ServSafe is a nationally recognized comprehensive food safety training developed by the National Restaurant Association. Food service managers and cottage foods producers will benefit from this highest level of food safety training.
After completing the test with a 75 percent score or higher, participants will receive a ServSafe certificate, valid for five years.
The cost is $150 per person. Attendees receive a course textbook and final exam along with the training. Each additional business associate costs $95. If a participant takes the final exam online, there is an additional fee of $35.
