Program aims to treat seasonal allergies
Caleb Gates, a licensed acupuncturist, will give a talked called “Resolving Seasonal Allergies, Food Sensitivities and Sinusitis.” This method uses Advanced Allergy Therapeutics, a safe, non-invasive treatment to resolve allergy symptoms.
The presentation will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Durango Public Library in Room 1, 1900 East Third Ave.

Heart Safe La Plata teaches CPR, more
Heart Safe La Plata, a local nonprofit organization, will offer these classes at Durango Fire Protection District’s Station 1, 142 Sheppard Drive:
An Adult CPR/AED class will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday.
A CPR Pro class will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. June 11.
An Emergency Medical Responder (first responder) class will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. two nights per week beginning the week of July 13 for four weeks.

Dental services change at clinic
With the departure of its dentist, San Juan Basin Health Dental Clinic (previously known as Southwest Smile Makers) is undergoing changes.
After June 24, the clinic, in the Commons Building at 701 Camino del Rio, will remain open with limited dental hygiene services. To schedule a hygiene appointment, call 385-4480.
The dental clinic operates in partnership with Axis Health System’s La Plata Integrated Healthcare and both will continue to assist new and existing patients with accessing dental care.

Author to explore autism treatments
Former Durango resident and author, Sandra Alexander will host a community gathering about new and innovative interventions and discoveries related to autism from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the Sunroom of Inhabit, 1970 East Third Ave.
Alexander will share a short presentation about her book Children of the Cosmos and will introduce the “Autism: A Spiritual Approach to Intervention” project. Attendees will have an opportunity to share views, concerns and new discoveries about this subject. Parents and providers are encouraged to attend.
