‘Pushed by Council. Follow the money’

A whopping addition of 149 condos, townhouses, apartments plus businesses and a park on a small section in an already congested area, is impractical, unrealistic and unforgivable, putting a major strain on water supplies and adding unreasonable traffic and congestion to Florida Road. Already, Florida Road is too often difficult to access.

The legitimate rationale is that some of the residences are low-income units. Nothing has been announced yet about rental or ownership costs. But there are other locations that are much more logical.

This is being pushed by City Council. Follow the money. Who is benefiting without considering the best interests of the city or of residents, much less the reasons that many choose to live here rather than in Denver or Albuquerque? Also, this is not the only residential area now planned or under construction in Durango.

Why put this somewhere where it will make the neighborhood a nightmare, maybe a ghost town when residents flee elsewhere?
