WolfWood Refuge is so fortunate to be located near Durango, Bayfield, Ignacio, the Southern Ute Tribe and La Plata County. The immediate and unquestioning support from individuals, businesses, and other organizations during our evacuation process, was both humbling and inspiring.
We especially want to thank all the firefighters, pilots, and support people that got control of the Rim Road Fire quickly and efficiently. Having to evacuate 61 animals was stressful and scary, and our firefighters kept us updated and looked out for us.
Because of their efforts, all the animals and people of WolfWood were kept safe and we are all back in our homes. Words are not enough to communicate all the gratitude and heartwarming appreciation we feel.
The WolfWood crew, and most of all, the rescued animals that are safe in our care send love and thanks.
