I am afraid to write this letter because of being targeted by ICE, but somebody must.
ICE agents are stealing people off the streets right now. On Aug. 18, ICE agents kidnapped a young family man in front of his wife, in front of his kids (Herald, Aug. 20).
They took him away we don’t know where. Now he is gone from our community, he’s missing from his wife and kids and nobody knows where he is. What kind of people do this? Who are these thugs, these villains?
Are they from here, fellow Durangoans? Where do they come from? Where do they live? Do they really believe they are making our town a better place by stealing people off the street? Do they think this is right or is this just a job?
Do you think that someone you know or love might be next? Are you afraid you might be next? What would you do if one of these heartless thugs stole you? What would your family do if you were suddenly ‘disappeared’?
I am afraid to write my name because they might come after me next. Please God, make them stop. Make them go away.
I wonder if their mothers know what they do? I wonder if they are proud of their kids?
If you don’t hear from me next week, please ask someone where I am.
