The First Amendment protects us all

I know that during times of political turmoil and constitutional illiteracy, it’s hard for people to understand and appreciate that the way you live, regardless of where you fall on the political spectrum, is essential.

First, the Constitution is divided into sections, starting with the Articles and ending with the amendments. Words that are unpopular (some will remember George Carlin’s “Big 7”) are all protected speech.

Don’t like naked bodies in photography, art, movies or other places? Look away. They are protected, too, as is pornography. The First Amendment is amazing in what and how it covers.

Its interpretation is broad and excludes religion because Europe and England didn’t. Leave people alone, help where you can and stop using bully pulpits to communicate.

Government agents are people who take government paychecks. Bus drivers, librarians, prosecutors and public defenders all have important experience and constitutional purposes.

Listen and save yourselves.
