The family of Cordelia “Cordy” Trujillo would simply like to say thank you.
Cordy truly was an angel on Earth and blessed are those who had the opportunity to cross paths with her in their life. She was a dedicated employee at the Durango Lodge for more than 50 years. She quietly went about her business day-to-day, never missing work or mass and never letting any mouth go unfed. In a world with so much evil, people like Cordy reassure us that good can still prevail.
To Cordy: You should know the positive effect you’ve had on the world. Your efforts have done so much for so many. Thank you for being the best mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and human anybody could ever ask for. Thank you for touching so many lives in such a beautiful way. Thank you for always being willing to lend a helping hand and for maintaining an unmatched level of selflessness. Thank you, Cordy, for your hard work and dedication to love. We love and respect you more than you can imagine.

Stillwater Music extends a heartfelt thanks to all the people and businesses that made Stillwater Music’s eighth annual Party in the Park a resounding success.
Hundreds of people gathered under mostly sunny skies on May 19 at Buckley Park to hear performances by over 150 students from Stillwater Music’s youth bands, Durango Arts Center’s “Applause!” performing arts program and the Be FRANK Foundation classical music program. While listening to music all afternoon, families checked out exhibitor booths from local organizations who offer summer and year-round programs for kids. The kids engaged in hands-on activities and everyone enjoyed delicious food.
Huge thanks to: Alpine Bank and Durango Friends of the Arts for sponsoring the event; Stella Dickson for organizing the event; the wonderful volunteers for setting up, taking down and helping the day run smoothly; all the Stillwater Music, DAC and Be FRANK students who played and sang such beautiful music; all the parents for their ongoing support; Durango Arts Center, Emily Grandt, Be FRANK Foundation and Lech Usinowicz for being great partners; exhibitors Seed Studio, Colvig Silver Camps, Cafe Au Play, Boy Scout Troop 538, Powerhouse Science Center, Music in the Mountains, Durango Public Library, Durango Dance, The Rock Lounge, Durango Nature Studies and Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad; and food vendors Fired Up Pizzeria and Purple Ice Cream Truck.
Special thanks to: Jeff Jones for his professional sound engineering; Steve Dejka, Evan Suiter, Mark Rosenberg, Ryan McCurry, Bailey Barnes-Fagg, Sandy Kiefer, Denise Leslie and Jeroen van Tyn for their able leadership of Stillwater’s ensembles; and most of all, thanks to everyone who came down to hear the music!

Friends and family assembled at the Allison-Tiffany Cemetery on May 28 for a Memorial Day service. Flags were placed on the graves of veterans and on graves at the cemetery. Lynn Swanemyr and Ted Roberts raised the flag as the Durango Acapella Quartet sang “The National Anthem.”
Pastor Al Tebrink led the opening prayer and gave a memorial message. Balloons in red, white and blue were released by Vickie Sutton-Gallegos.
Vickie led the singing of “Proud to be an American” and Dusty Mars accompanied on guitar.
At the end the program, the quartet sang “The Lords Prayer” and Dusty played “Taps.”
